Exclude certain file types from FTP operations

Digg This Story

I put a challenge out there a few weeks ago, and it was not met. I however, stumbled on it myself.

I was trying to “get” an entire site to my local hard drive, but didn’t need to download any of the images, or any of the temp files… and so on. I gave up, scrapped my original plan, and had to come up with a new one. I wish I had found this before…

“Cloaking”, in Dreamweaver, allows you to exclude certain files and folders, and even file types, from all site operations.  It was right there, right in front of my face, the entire time. If you want to exclude a certain folder, or a certain file from normal site operations, just right click on it in the file view, select cloaking, and click “Cloak”. Done. It will be ignored.

In your “Site Options”, you have the option to specify certain file types to always cloak. (You can specifically allow certain files and folders later). Make sure you’re in the advanced view, and on the left hand side is a menu for Cloaking.

Thats it. It is something so easy, that I didn’t look right in front of my face, and instead went scouring over the internet trying to find a plugin, or some trick, or some separate program… It wasn’t talked about, because apparently nobody else on the internet is quite as blind as myself.

Touchè, internets.

ACLS Online Certification

Digg This Story

AMRG offers the complete ACLS provider education course conducted totally online. By using the framework of 10 Clinical Cases (plus many additional supplemental cases), users will comfortably assimilate the core ACLS concepts and prepare for the provider certification examination. Each module has educational FAQ’s as well as a pretext. In addition, appendices addressing pharmacology and ECG recognition can be accessed throughout the program. This course is ideal for first-time candidates or for those practitioners seeking in-depth review of the material. Following completion of the educational course, users may then take the provider certification examination when ready.

This is a great way for someone who doesn’t have the time or means to take night classes to get their certification. It’s all done online, and is actually less expensive. For recertification, it even counts for continuin education credit. It’s a breeze to sign up, and very easy to navigate and use the site, so even those who aren’t too computer savvy can do it!

Entrecard Raffle! (ended)

Digg This Story

This contest has ended. There were not enough entries to award all prizes mentioned. Anyone who did enter, and would like a text-link ad placed permanently on this site, leave a comment, message me on EntreCard, or e-mail me and I will gladly oblige. This applies to ANYONE who entered.

EXTENDED!

The deadline has been extended to February 28th.

This contest will be limited to 100 entrants, and will be drawn completely at random. You must be a member of http://www.entrecard.com in order to qualify, and your website must not be of any sort of pornographic nature. Other than that, there are no requirement, although I reserve the right to modify that at any point.

Here’s how it works:

This is a raffle. Each entry into the raffle costs 100 80 EntreCard credits. I’m working on getting this put up in the store, but for now, you will receive an entry if you send 100 credits to my account at dcostalis@gmail.com. Purchase an entry from the Entrecard Store. The raffle will be drawn as soon as 100 entries have been received, and the drawing will be posted in a video blog on this website to ensure credibility.

Prize Structure:

1st prize (First name drawn): A permanent 88×31 button (or text-link ad, your choice) on the sidebar of my site. It would be located near the RSS and feedburner buttons (unless the site is redesigned, in which case I will move it to another prominant location). A 500 word article written about your website/blog detailing key facts about it, and why users should read it! Also, you will receive 1000 EC’s, and a link back to your site in the results post with a 1 line description.

2nd prize (Second name drawn): A permanent text-link ad on my site, with the same location as the aforementioned. You will also receive 1000 EC’s

3rd prize (Third name drawn): 1000 EC’s, and a link back to your site in the results post with a 1 line description.

4th-10th prize: Receive their entry credits back, and a link back to their site in the results post.

If I have not received 100 entries by February 10th February 28th, the drawing will be conducted with however many entries I have received. Happy blogging!

PayPerPost

Digg This Story

I just signed up for PayPerPost, since I’m going to be writing articles anyways… and figured I might as well get some cash for doing it. The first thing to do, of course, is to take advantage of the $20 they give you to write an article about their site… So that is exactly what I am doing now. Yeah, I’m sure it’s to help them drive traffic to their site, which just makes sense… of course their going to try to recruit more users. From what i can tell, this is going to be a great opportunity for me, and can’t wait to start thumbing through the topics available.

So far, I’ve already contacted customer service because of my own mistake, and they responded quickly, and friendly, so that’s a good sign. I guess that’s why they call it “customer love” instead (cheesy, yeah, but whatever).

I am diggin the firefox plugin so far… It tells you when something you are reading/looking at has an opportunity for a paid post, and you can click the link to see if you’re interested in it. Let’s see how this works out…

Pagination PHP script

Digg This Story

Here is a nice, simple way to add pagination to a site with many items using PHP. This code will allow you to display your content normally, or automatically create pagination if the content exceeds a set number of items. This code is provided as is, with no warranty, but can be modified to your liking. If you use it on your site, I’d love if you let me know so I can see it in action, but you are under no obligation to do so.

The function itself is pretty well commented, and a php example file is provided as well. Let me know how it works out for you!
